WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL

The summer is gone and a new school year for our children is upon us.  I hope your summer break was exciting as you spent quality time with family and friends.   The first day of school is Wednesday, August 12, 2009, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. there will be early dismissal Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 1 pm.  Please prepare a lunch for your children if they are in grades pre-K – 4^th grades. 

I want to remind you when dropping off or picking up your children, you must park your car and walk the children to the ramada.  Remember the safety of your children is very important, therefore, please follow the rules.  WELCOME BACK!!!!

SCHOOL LITURGY AND OPEN HOUSE

Sunday, August 9^th is our first family liturgy together for the opening of the 2009-10 school year.  All families and children are required to attend Queen of Peace back to school Mass at 11:30 am.  After the school Mass, you are invited to an ice cream social sponsored by the PTO at the school and visit with the teachers in the classroom.  Children should wear their school uniform to Sunday Mass.  Let us celebrate and share the Eucharist as one family.

CTODP

Queen of Peace will officially start the CTODP Campaign to have your families and friends redirect their tax dollars to help educate our children at Queen of Peace Catholic School.  Your involvement will be very important in making this years CTODP Campaign a great success.  This year the Diocese of Phoenix CTODP awarded Queen of Peace School $199,000 to assist families with their tuitions.  If you are married you can give up to $1,000, or if you are single can give up to $500 by designating Queen of Peace School.  I would like to thank all of you who have participated in the CTODP program over the past year.

TUITION

It is mandatory for all families to pay tuition through automatic deductions or pay the full tuition up front.  If you pay the full tuition up front you will receive a $200 discount.

To start your auto deductions, please complete the proper option payment form and attach a voided check to it, or you can sign up to use FACTS. Tuition payments have been divided into 12 monthly payments in order to help alleviate the burden place on your budget.  If you have just registered your payments will be divided into 10 monthly starting August 15. This is mandated by the Parish Finance Committee.    

LUNCH PROGRAM

Queen of Peace has agreed to have the lunch program provided by Mesa Public School District starting September 1^st 2009.  The cost for a Lunch will be $3.00 per lunch per child and milk will cost $.50 per carton.  Lunch applications will be sent home when school starts for those families who qualify for free or reduced lunch. 

Wednesday, August 12 through Friday, August 14, parents should pack a lunch for children in Pre-K – 4^th grades and every Friday.  The younger children are accustome to eating lunch early.  I would also like to remind you not provided or send any fast foods or soda for children’s lunches.  Queen of Peace School adheres to the Diocesan and State Wellness Program.

Due to budget restrictions we are using the internet to communicate with our parents and hope to get out information in a timely manner.  All parents are asked to register your email address so that the school can communicate with you.   I believe you will find this method of communication beneficial to you and your family.
